The transport Marine Flasher arrived here today with more than 800 persons aboard, a major part of whom are immigrants arriving under President Truman’s order facilitating refugee immigration.

The vessel, which left Bremerhaven Sept. 23, carried 174 Jews sponsored by the Joint Distribution Committee and 136 assisted by the HIAS. Representatives of the United Service for New Americans and HIAS were at the pier to greet the DP’s.

At San Francisco yesterday, the Marine Swallow arrived from Shanghai with 120 Jewish refugees who fled Germany and Austria during 1938 and 1939 and spent the war years in the Chinese port city. Many of the Jews will be relocated in this country by USNA, but some will go to other countries including Palestine.
