Civic Groups, Churches, Synagogues Celebrate Los Angeles’ First Civic Unity Week

The schools, churches, synagogues and civic organizations of Los Angeles this week are observing Civic Unity Week, proclaimed by Mayor Fletcher Bowron at the suggestion of the local Council for Civic Unity, which is headed by Dr. Maurice J. Karpf. The proclamation, the first of its kind in the history of the city, was endorsed by the County Board of Supervisors, labor groups and other organizations.
