Goldie Meirson, head of the political department of the Jerusalem section of the Jewish Agency, today called on every Jewish man, woman and child in Palestine to stand ready for mobilization in the face of “threats from all sides.”

Speaking to a conference of Jewish war veterans in Tel Aviv, Mrs. Meirson asserted that it was most urgent at the present time that the Jews mobilize as they did during World War II. The Jewish community, which desires to live in peace with its Arab neighbors, will know how to defend itself, she said.

Mrs. Meirson lashed out at High Commissioner Sir Alan G. Cunningham who yesterday told a press conference that “misery, economic loss, chaos and possibly bloodshed would follow the British withdrawal” from Palestine. She took Cunningham to task for “spreading rumors and war mongering” and asked: “Who is going to shed the blood?” Although the Jews are able to take care of themselves, England cannot “resign her duty” as long as she remains here, the Agency political spokesman said.
