A conference of representatives of Jewish communities throughout the country and all Jewish political organizations, with the exception of Dr. William Filderman’s Union of Rumanian Jews, today adopted a resolution demanding the immediate dissolution of the interim boards conducting the affairs of the communities and the appointment of new boards elected on democratic principles.

The resolution points out that there have been no elections for community officers since the end of the war and charges that the present boards include representatives of the outlawed National Peasant Party and opposition Liberal Party elements who “hamper the natural development of the Jewish communities and the democratization of Jewish life.” The conference elected a committee authorized to suggest the personnel of new boards to the Ministry of Public Worship.

The meeting followed Dr. Filderman’s resignation last week as chairman of the Union of Rumanian Jews, which he had headed since the end of World War I, and as president of the Federation of Rumanian Jewish Communities.
