Rumanian Government Drafts Bill Outlawing Religious and Racial Discrimination

Legislation providing punishment of from six months to two years for “racial offenses” including discrimination in employment has ##en drafted by the Ministry of Justice, it was learned here.

A special commission appointed by the Minister of Justice to draw up such leg##lation has accepted and incorporated into the measure a Jewish proposal which roads ## follows: “Any attempt to injure the honor of a national minority or an individual ##tizen on grounds of race, religion, culture or language.” Specifically included as ##punishable offense is discrimination in employment by either private business or government agencies.A group of 45 Jewish emigrants left Rumania for Palestine aboard the liner ##ansylvania. All obtained immigration certificates because they have close relatives living in Palestine.
