Twenty thousand Jews and non-Jews held a huge mass meeting in the center of the city to celebrate the U.N. decision on partition.

Speakers paid tribute to the Uruguayan Government and people for their assistance to the Jewish cause. Chief speaker at the rally was the son of Prof. Enrique Rodriguez Fabregat, Uruguay’s delegate on UNSCOP, who was one of the most active supporters of a Jewish state on the committee and at the U.N.
