Henderson, Sees Sound Economic Basis for New Jewish State in Palestine

Leon Henderson, chief economist of the Research In-##te of America and former director of the Office of Price Administration, said ## night that the new Jewish state created in Palestine by the United Nations par-## decision has an excellent chance to develop a complete agricultural, indus-## business and finance community “in microcosm.” He spoke a dinner for the ##American Fund for Palestinian Institutions at Hotel Plaza.Comparing the economic development of Palestine to that of Switzerland, he ##ed “there will be a great upsurge of individual enterprise in Palestine that will ##lop side by side with the already large cooperative movement there.” This be-##, he declared, is based on his long term knowledge of the development of the ##rative movement in Palestine fostered by generous cooperation of the Jews in ## United States.
