U.S. Army headquarters here today issued an order providing that all DP’s sentenced to jail by military courts shall serve ##their sentences in German prisons. However, it added that a “limited type of segre-##ation” has been provided for “persecutees,” a category including all displaced ##vs, and that they will be confined in special prisons.Army officials said that the move resulted from the closing of two DP de-##tion camps for economy reasons. It was learned that Jewish leaders had appealed to the Army to make special provision for Jewish DP prisoners, and the segregation of “persecutees” seems to be the result of their negotiations.
