Syria Forbids Movement of Jews Within Country; Police Paid Jewish Quarter in Cairo

Reports reaching here from Arab capitals reveal new anti-Jewish measures by Middle East governments.

In Syria, the government has issued an order prohibiting Jews from leaving the country as well as from changing their residences within the country. The Syrian government also ordered the dismissal of all musicians of “Jewish origin” from the Damascus broadcasting station.

In Egypt, the police raided a Jewish residential section in Cairo allegedly in search of “a Zionist transmitting station.” At the same time the authorities permitted the Arab League secretariat to open a recruiting and training office in Cairo for volunteers willing to join Arab forces in Palestine.
