The Social Committee of the U.N. Economic and Social Council adopted a United Kingdom proposal to request the Secretary-General to study whether international treaties undertaken under the aegis of the League of Nations for the protection of minorities and to combat discrimination are still in force.

The British proposal was a substitute for a motion which would have referred the entire matter to the International Court of Justice where a final decision would have teen rendered.
