Myron C. Taylor, President Truman’s personal representative to the Vatican, who is now en route to Rome, may be carrying with him a letter from the President to Pope Pius XII in connection with Truman’s appeal for an Arab-Jewish truce in Palestine, it was indicated here today.
Asked for confirmation of this report, Charles G, Ross, secretary to the President, said that Ambassador Taylor may have such a letter, but he did not know, and could not say, whether there is any connection between Taylor’s going to Rome and the appeal for a truce in Palestine.
