The charge that British troops and police are accessories in the Hadassah medical convoy massacre yesterday was made today by ### Hadassah officials here. The total number of Jews who perished in the Arab attack on the 11-vehicle convoy was set today at 64, of whom 37 were killed by Arab machinegun fire and 27 were burned alive when the Jewish trucks were set afire in a ##re bomb” assault. Many of the Jews killed yesterday were mowed down by fierce Arab machinegun fire as they stumbled out of the biasing vehicles.
The Hadassah officials said that British troops, and police prevented Haganah enforcements from reaching the battle scene in time to aid the immobilized Jews by ?tting two armored cars across a road leading to Sheik Jarrach. The same officials ##aimed that British police who witnessed the massacre from less than 100 yards away ## nothing to defend the trapped Jews, most of whom were doctors, nurses and hospital patients.
EXPLOSION ROCKS JEWISH QUARTER IN JERUSALEM; JEWS CAPTURE ARAB TILLAGE
An official communique disclosed that 12 Arabs were killed and 15 wounded when Jewish troops captured the Arab village of Lajjun yesterday. There were no Jewish casualties. Meanwhile, the Tel Aviv border area was attacked last night by ## Arab band from Jaffa using mortars, but the Jews replied with still heavier mortar ##re and drove the bead off. The number of Jewish and Arab casualties in the engagement was not ascertained.
