Provisional Jewish Cabinet Introduces Income Tax Plan to Replace Government

Anticipating the establishment of a Jewish Government after the expiration of the Palestine Mandate on May 15, the Provisional Jewish Cabinet last night launched a “Jewish State Fund” to collect income taxes from the Jewish community. Employers were ask to deduct withholding taxes from their employees’ salaries, as soon as the Palestine Government’s income tax collection

Meanwhile, the Jewish Agency and the Jewish National Council have instructed all Jewish civil service employees to remain at their posts until further notice to prevent any possible damage to public installation or disruption of services after May 15.
