A resolution greeting the establishment of Israel and declaring that the new Jewish state has raised “a new beacon of light and hope” for thousands of displaced Jews in Europe was adopted here today by the Executive Committee of the Joint Distribution Committee.
“We note with pride,” the resolution stated, “the heroic and courageous efforts of the citizens of Israel to establish for themselves and those who will come to their land a state firmly founded on principles of democracy and justice for all.”
