Arthur Lourie Named Israel Consul-general in New York; Will Also Direct U.N. Office

Arthur Lourie, formerly director of the local office of the Jewish Agency, was today named Israeli Consul-General in New York. He will also direct the Israeli Government’s U.N. office at Lake Success.

Lourie has served as liaison between the Jewish Agency and the Anglo-American Committee of Inquiry on Palestine and has represented the Agency on other Occasions. He is a native of South Africa.
