Herman Gilman, who served as chairman of the 1946 and 1947 drives of the Combined Jewish Appeal here, was today elected president of the organization, succeeding Israel Friedlander who held the post for the past two years. Gilman is also national co-chairman of the United Jewish Appeal gifts division.
