Max J. Spitz, South African Jewish leader, and chairman of that country’s Jewish Appeal, left here today for Europe to make a firsthand study of the needs of Europe’s Jewish communities in France, Germany, Poland and Austria. He spent a month in the U.S., conferring with officials of the Joint Distribution Committee and other Jewish organizations. He expects to return home in August.
