A Palestine plank strongly supporting United States recognition of Israel was adopted here today by the resolutions committee of the Republican National Convention. The text of the resolution will be presented to the convention delegates on Wednesday. Supporters of Senator Robert a. Taf’s nomination for the Presidency, who are identified with more nationalist elements in the Republican party, ardently advocated all-out de jure recognition of the Jewish state, immediate exchange of diplomatic representatives and welcoming Israel into the family of nations. Senator Arthur Vandenberg’s followers, whose views are more internationalist, pushed for amore cautious approach in the resolutions committee. It was evident that the reserved attitude of the State Department was being reflected in the Vandenberg forces’ approach.
