Dr. Israel Goldstein, chairman of the United Palestine Appeal, who left today for Tel Aviv to attend the forthcoming session of the Zionist Actions Committee, reported that the migration to and resettlement of 50,000 Jews in Israel since Jan. 1, 1948 was due mainly to contributions by American Jews.

“Without the decisive financial assistance extended through the United Jewish Appeal, the Jews of Israel,” Dr. Goldstein said, “may not have been able to cope with the tremendous problems of rehabilitation and resettlement created by the greatly increased flux of newcomers.” He declared that “the current future role of American Jews in relation to Israel hinges on the problem of helping to migrate and resettle hundreds of thousands of Jews, both from Europe and Cyprus, who are eager to start new lives in the new Jewish state.”
