Australian immigration authorities are studying urgent pleas for visas received here today from Jews in Egypt. The main obstacle in granting such visas is the lack of shipping facilities, which is a pre-requisite to issuing a visa to a prospective arrival, it was pointed out here.

Leo Fink, migration officer of the executive of the Council of Australian Jewry, commented today that the Australian Government would issue such visas providing that all migration requirements were fulfilled. He said, however, that he was not optimistic that Australia would grant visas to the Egyptian Jews.
