The national convention of the Cooperative Commonwealth Federation (Canada’s Socialist Party) today unanimously adopted a resolution calling on the Canadian Government to extend immediate recognition to the state of Israel. The resolution also urged Canada to “grant Israel all the rights of nationhood in accordance with the United nations Charter.”

M.J. Coldwell, national leader of the Party, in an address at the closing session of the convention voiced his regrets over Canada’s delay in recognizing the Jewish state.
