Britain Joins U.S. in Advising Arabs to Conduct Direct Peace Talks with Israel

Britain has joined the United States in recommending to governments of the Arab League countries that they accept Israel’s offer of direct peace negotiations, informed political quarters asserted here today.

British and American envoys are understood to have urged that the Arab government respond positively to the offer of peace talks made earlier this month by Israeli Foreign Minister Moshe Shertok. Only then they reasoned, would the forth-coming Palestine debate in the U.N. General Assembly contribute toward reaching a final solution of the dispute.
