Germans in the American Zone are becoming anti-American and anti-Semitic “quite visibly “it was reported here today by M. Maldwin Fertig, chairman of the executive committee of the American ORT Federation, upon his return to the United States from a visit to Europe.
“Only the protection of the American Army holds the German population hack from pillage and extermination,” Fertig said. “The displaced Jews must leave Germany, everyone of them, before the Army moves out.” He reported that with the financial aid of the Joint Distribution Committee, the ORT gave vocational training last year to about 35,000 Jews in the DP camps in Germany, Austria and Italy.
