A permanent body representing Jewish youth and young adult councils and other Jewish youth groups throughout the United States was created here at the close of the first National Jewish Youth Conference. The parley, which concluded during the week-end, was held under the spices of the Jewish Welfare Board’s National Jewish Youth Planning Commission.
The new body will retain the name of the National Jewish Youth Conferences. Its purposes will be; to exchange experiences and program ideas on youth and going adult levels; to initiate programs nationally which could aid local communities; act as a sounding board of needs of youth and young adults; to stimulate and aid the development of youth and young adult councils; to facilitate relationships ##th other cultural and ethnic groups; to serve as an instrument for cooperation and exchange between American Jewish youth, the people of Israel and youth all over the world; to provide opportunity for the development of leadership; to provide ?medium for democratic representation from youth and young adult councils on national and international youth serving bodies; to develop a medium of cooperation between the Jewish youth and young adult councils; and to provide a self-governing, representative body of organized Jewish youth which can develop a service for meeting the needs of American Jewish young people.
The conference sent greetings to the state of Israel and called for greater understanding between youth all over the world and asked for increased professional guidance in the field of youth service.
