The sending of food and clothing packages from the United States to interned Jewish refugees in Cyprus has been discontinued by CARE, government-approved cooperative American organization in which the Joint Distribution Committee and other relief groups are represented, it was announced today.

The announcement said that negotiations are under way to extend CARE service to Israel. “The closing of the service to Cyprus resulted from the fact that the number of internees there is steadily being reduced as more and mere of them are admitted to the state of Israel,” the statement declared.
