A mammoth campaign meeting in behalf of Israel held here today heard B.A. Ettlinger, president of the South African Board of Jewish Deputies, and B, Gering, chairman of the South African Zionist Federation, voice condemnation of Count Bernadotte’s murder last week.

Both speakers emphasized that the perpetrators of the crime greatly harmed the cause of Zionism and of world Jewry. All sections of South Africa’s press pointed out that unless the Israeli Government succeeds in stamping out terrorism, the future existence of the state of Israel is endangered.

Premier Daniel Malan sent a message of condolence to the Swedish Government over the death of Count Bernadotte. In an earlier statement, former Premier Jan, Smuts warned that the assassination may 4570 the most serious consequences and may lead to renewed bloodshed in Palestine.
