A demand that urgent action be taken by the U.N. General Assembly regarding the plight of the Jews living in Arab countries prior to the Assembly’s adjournment was voiced here last night by Dr. Nahum Goldmann, chairman of the administrative committee of the World Jewish Congress who arrived here this week from Paris where he attended the U.N. deliberations.

Addressing a dinner held at the Savoy-Plaza Hotel for D. A. Leon Kubowitzki, general secretary of the W.J.C., who will leave for Israel shortly where he will establish permanent residence, Dr. Goldmann said that the World Jewish Congress is exerting great pressure to mobilize support for some form of immediate General Assembly action to prevent a disaster to Jews resident in Moslem countries, especially in Iraq. Tributes to Dr. Kubowitzki were paid in addressed by Dr. Stephen S. Wise, Ir. I. Sokwartzbart, Dr. S. Federbush, Baruch Zuckerman, Louis Segal and Prof. Max Laserson.
