Adults in Jerusalem have lost an average of 12 pounds since the outbreak of fighting in Palestine following the declaration of Israeli statehood, Dr. Eli Davis, deputy director for the Hadassah Medical Organization in Israel, reported here yesterday. Dr. Davis came here to attend the 34th annual convention of Hadassah, which opens this week-end.

The Hadassah health officer also noted that typhoid has been wiped but almost completely among the Jewish population. He could explain this only by the simple fact of separation from Arab foci of infection. He added that Hadassah operated 52 health welfare stations in Israel, and had opened a 50-bed rehabilitation center in Jerusalem. The organization is also preparing to open additional 70-bed general hospital in Jerusalem, he added.
