The Federation of Jewish Communities today opened a central office in Cluj to administer the heirless property of north Transylvanian Jews murdered during the war in the Oswiecim and Theresienstadt death camps.

The property was turned over to the Federation in accordance with a law passed earlier in the year by the Rumanian Government. Proceeds from the sale of the property will be used for the relief of needy Jews in the country. The Federation appointed an official for each district in North Transylvania to be responsible for the administration of all heirless assets in his respective territory.
