The Board of Deputies of British Jews decided today to take all possible measures to ward off the danger of Parliament’s repealing the special provisions for ritual animal slaughter in the Animals. Slaughters Act. Several speakers at today’s meeting of the Board pointed out that anti-Schechita campaigns have been used by anti-Semites in many countries to prepare the ground for a general anti-Jewish attack.

Aaron Zeitlyn, chairman of the Board’s Schechita committee, reported that an anti-ritual slaughter drive–which began in Hertfordshire–is now spreading throughout Britain. The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has sent a pamphlet denouncing Schechita to all members of Parliament, he said.
