The Hungarian police have apprehended Vilmos Lucska, former Nazi leader of the Budapest ghetto, who in 1945 was prepared to demolish the ghetto by fire and explosives.

Lucska’s plan, which was to have been carried out in January 1945, was foiled by the action of a number of policemen who opposed the persecution of Jews, and the rapid advance of the Red Army.
