Phi Delta Phi, the fraternity of Yale University’s law school here, voted today to eliminate from its constitution a clause restricting membership to “males of the Aryan race.” Nine other fraternities at Yale had declined to vote on the subject, believing that nothing would come of such a vote.
The vote, 51 to 14, was lauded by Wesley Sturdges, dean of the law school. The Yale chapter of Phi Delta Phi announced that it will move to have the clause eliminated from the fraternity’s international chapter at the group’s world-wide convention in New York next year.
