The closing down of the first of the Cyprus interment camps was celebrated here today by Israel-bound immigrants who have been interned on this island by the British Government. Golden keys were presented by the refugees to Rabbi M. Schreibaum of the Jewish Agency and Morris Laub of the Joint Distribution Committee “to close the gates of the Cyprus concentration camps forever.”

The second transport of Cyprus detainees to sail for Israel left last night aboard the S.S. Galila. More than 1,500 refugees are aboard, including several women expected to give birth before the ship reaches Haifa.
