Work was begun today on a 45-kilometer railway link between Hadera and Tel Aviv, which will provide a shorter main line rail span between Tel Aviv and Haifa than existed previously. To be constructed at an estimated cost of $6,600,000, the Tel Aviv-Haifa railroad through Hadera will run a total of 92 kilometers, as compared with the existing Tel Aviv-Haifa railroad which runs through Lydda, Kalkilya and Tulkarm and is 127 Kilometers in length.

The Israeli vessel “Atzmauth” (Independence) arrived here today from Marseilles with 2,000 Jewish immigrants.
