Swedish Finance Minster Criticized for Appointing Anti-semite to Government Post

The liberal Stockholm daily, Expressen, today a sharply criticized Finance Minister Ernst Wigfors for appointing Elias Brandel–a former contributor to the Nazi newspaper Dagepost and a notorious anti-Semite who at one tine advocated ousting of all Jews from important government posts–to the position of a country council clerk.

The shipment of prefabricated wooden housing units to Israel is being negotiated here by Dr. Isaac Gelfat, a representative of the Israeli Ministry of Trade, who is now visiting Sweden. The housing units under discussion are valued at $1,000,000, for which funds are available in this country. Meanwhile, an agreement covering the delivery of 350,000 citrus crates to Israel has already been reached.
