Severe criticism of the present Zionist Organization of America leadership was voiced today at a meeting of the Committee for Progressive Zionism, opposition group within the Z.O.A., which met here at the same time that the Z.O.A. held its extraordinary national conference. A resolution was adopted at the parley which ”noted with regret” the following five points:
“I. The antagonism of the present Z.O.A. administration toward suggestions made by lay individuals and groups; 2. The closing of the pages of the Hew Palestine toward any opinions offered for print that happen to be contrary to the individual wishes and ideas of the national leadership; 3. The intervention of the Z.O.A. leadership into political affairs within Israel and the subsequent support of a political party within that country; 4. The lack of contact between Z.O.A. leaders with the present administration in Washington due primarily to errors in Judgment over a period of time; and 5. The complete failure of the present Z.O.A. leadership to mediate successfully with a so-called ‘dissident’ group within the Z.O.A.”
