Funeral services were held here today for Menachem Boraisha, well-known Yiddish poet and writer, who died yesterday at the age of 61. Boraisha, who was known for many years under the pseudonym, Menachem, was a member of the editorial staff of The Day and chief editorial writer for Congress Weekly, official publication of the American Jewish Congress.
Born in Brest-Litovsk, Poland, he arrived in the United States in 1915. He began to write poetry at an early age and his work was published in magazines and anthologies edited by distinguished Jewish authors. For ten years he was associated with the press department of the Joint Distribution Committee. One of his book-length Yiddish poems. “Pollen,” was translated into Hebrew and Polish.
