Two Israeli Cabinet Ministers Change Their Names; Tel Aviv Boundaries Expanded

Zalman Rubashov, Israeli Minister of Education, today announced that he has changed his name to Shazar. The new name is composed of the initials of shneur Zalman Rubashov, his original name. Israeli Foreign Minister Moshe Shertok changed his name yesterday to Moshe Sharet. Sharet is the Hebrew word for “service.”

The Israeli Ministry of the Interior has decided to enlarge the Tel Aviv municipal area by 10,000 dunams (2,500 acres), Mayor Israel Rokach informed the Municipal Council here today. This will increase the Tel Aviv area by one-third.
