No communiques regarding the southern Negev or Eylat coast areas were released today, but it is known here that the territory is firmly in Israeli hands. It is also believed here that a number of new settlements will soon be established in this area.

(A British War Office spokesman in London late today declined to comment on an Amman announcement that British troops, materiel and armor have been unloading at Akaba since Saturday evening, Reuters reported. The spokesman said he could not add to an earlier announcement that British troops at Akaba were being reinforced. A Foreign Office official, Reuters said, commented that the “strength of the force at Akaba is a military secret.”)

Meanwhile, U.N. liaison official to the Israeli Government, Dr. Paul Mohn accompanied by large groups of U.N, observers and Israeli officers, left here today for Eylat to mate an on-the-spot investigation of the situation there.
