A Turkish shipping company has opened a special Istanbul-Haifa service to transport Turkish Jews to Israel, it was learned here today government circles. The first ship in this program is expected to arrive in Israel soon with 2,000 Jews. Israeli Government circles point out that this development represents an important change in attitude on the part of the Turkish Government towards the question of emigration of Jews from Turkey to Israel. (Reuters reported yesterday from Ankara that Turkish customs police arrested 70 young Jews trying to board an Israel-bound Israel lying off the Turkish coast. The dispatch said the ship is bringing 148 Jews to Haifa.)
