Israel was accepted into full membership in the International Wheat Conference here this afternoon. This is the first international trade organization to which Israel has been admitted with complete equality with other nations.

Membership will permit Israel to buy wheat for much less than she has been paying on the open market. Wheat heads the list of crucial shortages in Israel, It was estimated that Israel will save approximately $2,000,000 in the next four years through its membership in the body.

Dr. Ludwig Samuel and Arthur C.A. Liverhant, both now attached to the Israeli embassy staff in Washington, were recognized by the conference as plenipotentiary delegates. The only votes opposing Israel’s admission were those of Egypt, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia.
