Case-fire Broken Again on Central Palestine Front; Iraq Sentences 19 Jews in Absentia

The cease-fire in force on Palestine fronts was disrupted yesterday when the Israeli settlement of Maamit was subjected to Palestine, and mortar-fire from the Arab-held Nablus-Jenin-Tulkarm triangle in central Palestine, The area is held principally by Iraqis and irregulars under their command.

The Bagdad radio announced today that 19 Jews, belonging to five Iraqi Jewish fines of $8,000. All 19 were said to be in Israel.

Meanwhile, the Beirut radio, monitored here, declared that Turkey’s recognition of Israel yesterday has “made a great impression in all Arab countries” since Turkey is the first Moslem country to extend recognition. The announcer added that recognition was granted “after it was clarified that there is no real danger of Israel coming a Communist stronghold.
