Israel has Informed Dr. Ralph J. Bunche, acting United Nations mediator, that unless Egypt agrees to let Israel-bound cargoes pass through the Suez Canal, Israel would complain to the U.N. Security Council, Dr. Walter Eytan of the Israeli Foreign Ministry said today.
Dr. Eytan added that Dr. Bunche had repeatedly applied to Egypt on this subject as well as on the problem of Jews detained in Egyptian camps, yet the Egyptian replies were only that they were studying the question.
Dr. Eytan said that negotiations with Syria would probably start next week and revealed that Israel was ready to tall with the now Syrian Government if the U.N. were prepared to preside at the talks. He said that the site for the talks had not been decided, although the Syrians had proposed to establish two headquarters for the two delegations, in Marj Ayun on the Syrian side and in Metullah on the Israeli side, holding talks in a customs house between the two towns.
An Israeli-Transjordan agreement would be signed at Rhodes, Dr. Eytan said, probably on Sunday, and no outstanding points would be left open for discussion. He confirmed that the triangle (Nablus-Jenin-Tulkarm) would be included in the agreement which, he added, would exclude the British in Aqaba as the Transjordanians were not able to speak in their behalf.
He categorically denied reports of any new direct conversations with King Abdullah.
