Dr. Ludwig Halberstaedter, internationally-known radiologist and pioneer in the field of cancer therapy and research, died here early today at the age of 73. A resident of Jerusalem for the past 15 years, Dr. Halberstaedter arrived in the United States last December to survey new cancer research and therapy techniques.
Chief of the cancer laboratories of Hebrew University in Jerusalem since 1935, he was the first scientist to bring a supply of radium to Palestine. He was also credited with originating the 1,000,000-volt X-Ray therapy apparatus used in the treatment of cancer. A native of Germany, he fled that country when the Nazis assumed power. Funeral services for him will be held tomorrow morning. Hadassah announced.
