Truman Appoints Mcghee As Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs

George C. McGhee, of Texas, was named today by President Truman assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern and African Affairs. He will take the Job declined yesterday by Dr. Ralph J. Bunche, United Nations mediator for Palestine. McGhee is principally known in the State Department for his work on the Turkish and Greek programs.
