American Lubavitcher Movement to Erect Villages, Industries in Israel for Chassidim

Five agricultural villages and industrial projects will be established in Israel at a cost of $1,000,000 for some 3,000 Lubavitcher Chassidim who are now in France and various DP camps, it was announced here last night. The announcement was made by Rabbi S. Guriareh, a leader of the Lubavitcher movement in New York, at a banquet here in his honor.

Two new settlements will be established this week in Upper Galilee Hapoel Mizrachi group near Safed and a Hashomer Hatzair group near the Lebanese border.

It is officially stated that 2,500 families of new immigrants, with a total of 8,500 persons, have now been settled on the land in 22 newly established communities and in five about to be formed. Many others have Joined existing settlements. The Jewish Agency spent $750 per family in order to promote agricultural settlement.
