A systematic and thorough investigation of the remains of ancient synagogues in the Near East has been made possible through a donation $50,000 for this purpose by Louis Rebinowitz, New York philanthropist, to Prof. Eleazer Sukenik, leading Israeli archaeologist, it was announced here today.
