The split in the Board of Deputies of British Jews was widened here last night when the West London Synagogue, the largest Reform synagogue in Britain, voted not to elect deputies to the organization until the Liberal synagogues were given autonomy in the appointment of marriage recorders.

The West London Synagogue’s action makes impossible the expected election of Lord Nathan as the next president of the Board of Deputies because he is a member of the synagogue. The Spanish and Portuguese Synagogues recently left the Board over the same issue.
