Ilse Koch, notorious German war criminal who was charged with using the skin of murdered inmates of the Buchenwald concentration camp for lampshades, will be tried by the Bavarian authorities, it was announced here.
A spokesman for the Bavarian Ministry of Justice said that Frau Koch would definitely stand trial, although a date has not yet been set. Originally sentenced to life imprisonment by an American military tribunal, Frau Koch had her sentence commuted to four year imprisonment by the former U.S. commander in Europe, Gen. Lucius D. Clay.
