Dr. Asher Hananel, a rabbi in this city; has been appointed Chief Rabbi of Bulgaria to replace Rabbi Daniel Zion who left for Israel. Accepting his appointment, the new Chief Rabbi declared: “we shall fully support the fight against warmongers. We are convinced that if the peoples of the world are firmly ranged on the side of peace, there will be no war.”
